HVAC Technician Training: How To Become A Certified HVAC Technician

These days, having a desk job is not enough in order to supplement everything that you need. One of the most popular and lucrative careers these days is an HVAC technician.

An HVAC technician is a professional that looks into the heating, ventilation and air conditioning of a particular building. HVAC technicians deal mostly with the installation, maintenance as well as repair of the air conditioning and ventilations systems in buildings. The job description of an HVAC technician might be easy but the thing here is that their jobs are far from simple. HVAC technicians should possess high knowledge in the heating and cooling systems of buildings and that they also need to have high aptitude in engineering and electrical works. Having said this, before anyone can become an HVAC technician, they need to undergo HVAC technician training first from a qualified school or training center.

There are a lot of community colleges or technical schools that offer programs that will train people on how to become HVAC technicians.  In most cases, the HVAC technician training usually lasts between six months and two years. During training, the students will usually learn the basics in physics, chemistry, math and engineering. Moreover, they will also learn the different tools needed to complete the job as well as learn the anatomy of heating and cooling systems.

As soon as the student is done with the formal education, he or she is not yet considered as a certified HVAC technician.  Once a degree has been obtained from the technical school, it is important that the student becomes an apprentice to a certified HVAC technician for two to five years. During the apprenticeship, the HVAC technician will learn hands-on experience in the HVAC industry. Moreover, he will also be learning the tricks of the trade during the apprenticeship program.

After serving the apprenticeship program, the next step for an aspiring HVAC technician is to obtain a license so that you will be able to work independently as a qualified HVAC technician.
